The method "Modeling of Social Interactions with Multi-Agent Systems":
WHAT IS THIS?
In multi-agent-systems the interacting individuals (the agents) are explicitly represented as the atoms of the model. The agents may have a very simple or a more complicated architecture. Heterogeneity of agents is possible. Multi-agent-systems create artificial societies.
WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?
Agent based models allow to run artificial societies and to experiment with them. Often that allows to understand in detail how the interplay of individual actions on a micro level generates surprising and unintended social macro effects.
WHERE HAVE WE APPLIED IT?
The members of MODUS have applied this method for the following challenges:
- Opinion dynamics
- Segregation dynamics
- Evolution of solidarity networks
